Retro Bowl

Retro Bowl is a pixel-style American football game. You throw the passes and you also manage the roster, training and facilities under a salary cap. It suits players who like both a quick match and slow planning.

Course of play

Each match is played from the offence. On a computer, drag to aim a pass and release to throw. W and S move the player, A makes a dive and D slows the runner down. For a kick, click once for power and again for direction.

Between matches the work changes. You train players, upgrade facilities and keep the roster inside a salary cap. Poki notes that one franchise can run for more than 100 seasons, so the planning side is as large as the matches.

Practical tips

  • Short passes of 5 to 10 yards are the safest option, according to Poki.
  • A dive forward is worth about 2 yards when the play is stuck.
  • Upgrade the quarterback, the wide receivers and the running back first.
  • On a phone, hold and drag to pass; swipe to dodge or dive.
  • Keep an eye on the salary cap before adding players.

Suited to
